Pretty

This is the window box David made me for Mother's Day.  It was his idea and he whipped it up in a night. He's so handy!  The geraniums are from last year and have flowered nicely.
I don't have time to edit out the storm door, drain spot, etc!
Kindly overlook and enjoy the flowers.  :)

Sweet girl--needs no editing.  :)

Happy

This little guy is almost always happy.

Two little teeth!

Funny

Cars are really just dolls with wheels.  When Gracie plays cars, they end up traveling together in groups (on the windowsill, mantelpiece, behind a chair) and they stop in places like grocery stores and "parking wots".  Here they are, all lined up in a car show.

When I asked to take her picture, G thought it would be funny to throw her baby in the air.  Indeed.)

Real

Just how real are we getting here?  David said it wasn't appropriate to write about the spot on our basement floor which appeared when G was potty-training . . .and which is still there.  I don't think I'll post a photo of the bathroom sink (you're welcome).  These things are probably better suited to the confessional anyway.  How about a photo of the appetizer I made for tonight's dinner with guests?  The recipe called for a can of shoepeg corn.  I haven't found this yet in the supermarket, and last time I just used a can of sweet corn and it worked well.  This time I had three fresh ears that needed to be eaten, so I used those.  Fresh is always better than canned right?

Except when you don't properly clean them of the silks!  Can you see the little strings in the mix?  No?  Rest assured, they are there, and we will find them in our teeth pretty soon.  :)

Man-Baby

Our precious boy is 6 months old.

He weighed in at 21.4 lbs, with is 96% for weight.  He's 90% for height and 97% for head.

He's a big boy.

And a happy one.  Today at church we sat in the back pew.  Afterward, two people came up to me to tell me how fun he was--he was, apparently, cracking smiles and cooing at all the people standing in the back.

He likes to kick and jump.  He likes to smile.

He likes people.  He stops nursing if someone walks in the room--he wants to greet them with smiles.

 He loves his big sister.

Shel at 4mos.

He likes tummy time (!).  He can roll both ways, is working on sitting.  He has two little bottom teeth.
He grabs my face with his chubby hands and gives me open mouth kisses.

Every single one of the little chubby rolls are ticklish.

Sleepy smiles in the early weeks.

He wakes up just once a night, to keep up his chub.  He doesn't wake up crying--he coos.

He did great last night with our friend, while we went on a date night.

Seriously, I could go on--he is such a honey.

Little Bed

We moved Gracie from a crib to a little bed.

The first day we put it together, she was begging to take her nap--at 11:15 a.m.  When it was finally close enough to nap time, we couldn't find Soft Baby.

It didn't matter.

She went to bed, happily, without the baby, which is the first time this has happened ever.
(I later found Soft Baby in the pantry, near the sugar jar.)

Now when Grace throws a fit, instead of throwing herself down on the floor, she runs to her room, and climbs into her bed.  During one of these times, I went in to talk to her.  We cleared up the misunderstanding, but she still asked for "a little break, Mama" on her bed, when we were done.

When she wakes up from the night's sleep, or from her nap, she asks me, "clean my bed, Mama".  She likes to have the comforter and pillows as they should be.

Today when we pulled into the carport, she asked if "little girl could listen to music--'turn out the light'-all by myself".  Um, no.  You're just not old enough to sit in the car and listen to music.  Especially Nelly Furtado.

She has arranged some of the stickers, putting like with like.

She still waits for me to come and get her, just like in the crib.  So far, an easy transition for this sweet girl!

June: what we've been up to

Tucson was a blast!

We swam, we ate Mexican food, we married off a lovely cousin.

Gracie seems a little more grown up now. I really think that the wedding reception opened up a whole world for her.  I was too busy trying to keep up with her to take photos, but she danced until the newly-weds drove off, and then asked why we weren't still dancing. D said it was the first time she surprised him. She just loved being in the thick of things, and danced without any self-consciousness.

Nana and G had lots of special time together.

D picked up a new hobby.
